    Mike’s practice is founded on straightforward commitments: Do everything in the absolute best interest of the clients; make complicated issues easy for clients to understand; always remember that the most important part of a conversation is what the client has to say.

    When you combine Mike’s approach with his true personal service, solid experience and advice based on objective research, it becomes easy to understand why his clients stay with him despite a limitless amount of investment alternatives available to them.

    Mike takes into account personal as well as financial factors before giving any advice.  It’s a method that allows for tailor-made recommendations. Importantly, he also coordinates the advice with practical issues, such as estate planning, tax strategies, insurance, charitable giving, college savings strategies and retirement planning.

    Clients appreciate that Mike understands risk management, even in the most challenging market environments.  Having faced two severe bear markets since entering the wealth management field in 1995, he has firsthand experience, and that builds confidence among his clients.  As does his independence.  Because he offers no propriety investment products, clients rely on his advice to be objective and in their best interest.

    One component of Mike’s practice focuses on medical professionals, coordinating and managing the varied – and often complex – segments of their financial life.

    Mike earned membership in LPL Financial’s Chairman’s Club , 2001-2007,  and Chairman’s Council distinction, 2008-2012, a level recognizing the top 2% of LPL Advisors, based on revenue..

    A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Mike resides in Hyde Park with his wife and three children.

    John recognizes the responsibility that comes when people entrust their financial health to him. So with the heart of a teacher he always makes certain that they understand every side of a financial recommendation – positives, negatives, risks and more – before making their decision. Clients appreciate that John is never heavy-handed in his advice; instead, he helps them “think things through.”

    He starts with the goal of gaining an understanding of his clients’ unique needs as well as their personal and financial goals. The end result is a recommendation created to fit their goals and address their needs.

    John is Dave Ramsey’s SmartVestor Pro in the Cincinnati and Dayton area, vetted by Ramsey for his expertise in retirement, college savings and other investments. He has been part of the Dave Ramsey program for more than 10 years and shares Dave’s philosophy that eliminating debt and investing for the long term is the best way to build wealth and prepare for retirement.     In the financial services business for more than 20 years, John has a solid knowledge of the technical elements of financial planning and investing, and has the interpersonal skills that are so important when working with clients. A hard worker who is dedicated to his profession, John holds both CPA and CFP® Professional credentials. He has been named a Five Star Wealth Manager* in Cincinnati Magazine each year since the award has been given, 2012-2017.

    A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, John is a native Cincinnatian and resides in Mt. Lookout.

  • Bethany Bohmer Huffman, CIMA (R)

    Bethany believes that each client, regardless of their age or net worth, should feel valued by their financial advisor. She works to ensure that clients – as well as prospective ones – feel confident in the decisions they make in their financial lives. Open communication is a key to keeping clients informed, comfortable and pleased with their investment guidance. Clients, as well as the rest of the team, appreciate her attention to details and her sense of urgency in getting things done.

    Bethany graduated from Butler University in 2003, with a degree in Finance. She was an intern at HBK during college and joined the firm in 2009. Bethany holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst(R) certification, administered by Investment Management Consultants Association(R) and taught in conjunction with the Yale School of Management. She has also earned her Series 7 registration held with LPL Financial and 66 registration held with LPL Financial and HBK Wealth Management. Bethany was named a Five Star Wealth Manager* in Cincinnati Magazine for 2017. She worked previously as a mortgage broker and financial analyst.

    She resides in Pleasant Ridge with her husband and two dogs, Penny and Lucy.

  • Mary Bohmer Herrington, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM

    Mary’s objective is to help clients and their families think about, prioritize and achieve their financial goals.  She makes her clients’ priorities and objectives explicit – both to themselves and their spouses – and to integrate these goals with effective investment tools to pursue them.

    Her comprehensive investment planning integrates clients’ goals with their lives, taking into consideration a broad range of “real-life” situations that affect financial position, such as planning for retirement, college savings, estate planning and charitable contributions.

    During a 10-year career in Finance at Procter & Gamble, Mary developed valuable proficiencies which she utilizes with each of her clients: financial analysis skills, decision-making capability and long-term strategic planning acumen.  Her clients include P&G employees and alumnae, international families and women who have started their own businesses. P&G clients benefit from her expertise in P&G compensation and retirement plans, including stock options.*

    Her boutique practice, with investing for women as a particular niche, allows her to serve few clients extremely well.

    Mary earned a degree in Economics from the University of Notre Dame.  She lives in Cincinnati with her husband, Martin, and their three children.  She serves on the Ursuline Academy Foundation Board and is President of Children’s International Summer Village for Cincinnati.

    Because the firm is committed to providing outstanding service, they rely on Betsy’s skills in client service.  She works hard at developing relationships with clients so they know she is available to them to help address any problem or answer any question, always in a timely, friendly manner.  Betsy has the “go to” resources that are helpful in addressing even the most complex situations – resources she has cultivated during her 20-year career in the field of wealth management.

    Her forte is handling details and keeping the practice organized, so her “take charge” attitude and reliability in getting the job done make her an ideal practice manager.  Clients appreciate her dedicated assistance to them, as well as to their professionals, such as CPAs and estate planning attorneys.
    Betsy hopes that her service continues to be a key element in the team’s strong client retention and referral rates.

    Sheila is a familiar face at HBK, joining the practice in 2001. Over the years, she has built solid, long-term relationships with clients based on her willingness to go the distance for each of them. Her attentive, responsive service will always make you feel as if you are the firm’s most valued client.

    Sheila’s goal is to provide unmatched customer service, so she recognizes the importance of quick response and makes it her mission to be timely in her communication with clients — answering questions, providing information and managing the signing and submission of documents.

    She holds a Series 6 securities registration with LPL Financial.

    Sheila resides in Fairfield with her husband, Mike, two daughters and Greyhounds, Ryder and Charlee
